在托福考場上，我們無法決定我們遇到題目的難易度，但當你遇到難題時，千萬不要有負面的情緒波動，重要的是，我們要如何以從容不迫、見招拆招的心態，來面對難度稍高的題目？相信今天的分享對不久後要上戰場的同學會有幫助！
以下，是一題曾考過的托福題（還有可能再遇到！）請同學花兩分鐘的時間想想看，要是在考場遇到這樣有八米長的題目，你有沒有辦法在兩分鐘內說出三個理由呢？

❝ Question: Imagine that you are a student at university that has a long break between university semesters, and that your university requires all students to do ONE of the following. For one-Students must take a course on a subject that has no direct connection to their major course of study(for example, a student majoring in engineering might take course in fine art). Or-Students must volunteer to work on a project in their university's city or in their hometown to improve some aspect of life in the city or town (for example, students can work with local primary schoolchildren who need help with homework).
Which one of these choices do you think would be more beneficial for the university students? Why? ❞
遇到難題時，千萬不要自亂陣腳，「穩定軍心、回想策略」是最重要的事情！
我們可依循以下的「三步驟簡化法」來對付這種題目！
Step 1: 簡化題目：
Ａ. 第一句：Imagine university has a long break and ask students must do one thing.
B. 找who & what（題目選擇）
Who: Students
What (選擇1): take a course X connection to major
What (選擇2): volunteer to work and improve life in town
像這樣只抓VO (見投影片第三張），你會發現其實題目還滿簡單的，重點是要沉住氣，用Skim的方式簡化資訊。
Step 2: 判別題型
根據簡化後的結果，判別題目是否有情境、目的、或態度：
上一篇寫作分享系列，我們會發現這題是屬於「有情境類」題型
▲ 有情境類題型：要「把題目資訊」在例子中提到，否則會離題！
Step 3: 回想三個理由寫出主題句：
題目差不多簡化完成，接著站在「學生角度」想理由，思考以學生的「目標」出發，會選擇什麼呢？
理由：career（職涯發展）, life experience（生命經驗）, friendship（友誼關係）
如果學生是以上述三點為目標，即選擇：
立場： Volunteer to work and improve life in town
因此，我們基於以上三個理由來撰寫主題句：
First of all, students always care about their careers, and volunteering to work in their community can help them obtain a decent job.
Secondly, students tend to put emphasis on life experience, and being a volunteer to work in town can broaden their life experience.
Finally, students like to establish new friendships, and working as a volunteer in their hometown allows them to make new friends.
切記！主題句一定要讓考官「一看就懂」，不要寫太細、太複雜！發展Example的細節才是關鍵！
