上週有同學問我，假如是比較類的summary題要怎麼解呢？
其實只要是summary題，都是在考你一樣的能力—summarize。
你只能夠選最有印象的選項以及最重要、不可或缺的選項。
同學可以參考以下這兩篇，回憶一下summary題的解法，也順便了解如何培養summarize的能力，

因此，以下建議同學遇到此類summary題可以這樣作答：
STEP 1: 用表格做筆記
當你一開始看到整篇文章架構是以比較為主的時候，你就可以先有個底，很有可能後面的summary題會考你比較兩者的特色。因此，在筆記紙上面，除了做架構式筆記，了解整篇文章的脈絡之外，建議同學在作答的過程中，隨手多做一個比較兩者的表格，到時候做summary題就派得上用場。
STEP 2: 思考兩者的不同
即使你沒有察覺到文章架構是以比較為主，沒做比較的表格，做到summary題時，你也可以先想一下，根據你作答的了解，兩者有什麼不同？哪些資訊是你認為會出現在summary選項裡面的呢？
STEP 3: 選答案的策略：3O, 2X, 2?
根據你的想法，可以淘汰兩個完全沒有印象的，選三個最有印象的，剩下兩個不確定再回文中檢查。當然，練習久了，你會發現淘汰兩個沒有印象的選項之後，邊比較筆記，剩下五個應該能夠輕鬆歸類才對。
我們用TPO 24-R2 Breathing During Sleep這篇來示範：
建議自己先做做看，再看以下示範。
Directions: From the seven statements below, select the statements that correctly characterize breathing during wakefulness and those statements that correctly characterize breathing during sleep. Drag each answer choice you select into the appropriate box of the table. Two of the answer choices will NOT be used. This question is worth 3 points.
Answer Choices
A. The role of the rib cage increases and the role of the diaphragm decreases.
B. Carbon dioxide in blood rises and oxygen drops.
C. The coughing reflex is extremely complex.
D. A great deal of effort is used for breathing.
E. Upper airways are resistant to colds and allergies.
F. There is a drop in the volume of air that is exchanged.
G. Automatic and voluntary respiratory systems are both involved.

STEP 1: 用表格做筆記
如圖所示。
STEP 2: 思考兩者的不同
假如答題過程中，沒有做比較的表格，此時，也可以架構式筆記為主。在英文文章中，重點都會放在段落首句和末句，因此，架構式筆記也能夠幫你選答案。
STEP 3: 選答案
值得注意的是，比較有一定程度的對比，因此，假如某一選項不符合asleep，不代表一定錯，或許是awake的特徵。另外，不要陷入回文找的陷阱，因為回文章中找的時候，通常都傾向於選到很細節的選項。即使遇到不確定的選項回文中找，也要不斷思考這個選項是重要的細節嗎？還是其實無關緊要呢？
建議同學先淘汰兩者最沒有印象的選項，例如：
C The coughing reflex is extremely complex. 沒有印象提到”complex”這個特徵。
E Upper airways are resistant to colds and allergies. 沒有印象文中有特別著墨upper airways。
因此，先刪掉這兩者。
A. The role of the rib cage increases and the role of the diaphragm decreases.
跟Asleep的特徵相反，但是我對rib cage, diaphragm有印象，也有出現在筆記中，先保留，可能跟Awake有關。
B. Carbon dioxide in blood rises and oxygen drops. 確定是Asleep的特徵，文中有重複強調asleep時air lower, harder to breathe。
D. A great deal of effort is used for breathing. 有印象，也有出現在筆記中，確定是Asleep的特徵。
F. There is a drop in the volume of air that is exchanged. 此選項一樣明顯是Asleep的特徵。
故Asleep選BDF。
G. Automatic and voluntary respiratory systems are both involved. 明顯是Awake的特徵，故Awake選AG。
Summary題通常是同學最頭痛的題目，但是考的能力卻是日常生活中以及出國唸書時，必備的能力—總結（summarize）。因此，建議同學平常就多練習總結，可以總結最近看過的電影、小說、新聞等，如此一來，便能夠慢慢加強summarize的能力喔！
